Privacy Policy

ncmuslimtech.net (“we,” “us”) respects your privacy. This policy explains how we handle information on ncmuslimtech.net — our community website for events, membership registration, and information about NC Muslim Tech in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Last reviewed: June 2026

Information you provide

When you join our community at Get involved, we may collect:

  • Name and email address (via Sign in with Google)
  • Profile choices: student / professional / other, interests (mentorship, jobs, events, etc.), optional LinkedIn URL
  • Confirmation that you accepted our community guidelines

We use this information to operate membership access (including our private Discord invite page), understand community interests, and communicate about events. We do not sell or share this information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Sign in with Google

We use Google OAuth so you can sign in without a separate password. Google provides your verified email address and basic profile information (such as display name) according to your Google account settings and the permissions you approve. Google’s own privacy policy governs data processed by Google: policies.google.com/privacy.

Discord

After you complete registration, we may show a link to our private Discord server. Discord is a separate service operated by Discord Inc. Messages and activity in Discord are governed by Discord’s terms and privacy policy. We do not control Discord’s data practices. Do not share sensitive personal information in public Discord channels.

Cookies and analytics

We use a first-party cookie (ncmst_consent) to store your cookie preferences for up to 12 months.

On production (ncmuslimtech.net), Google Analytics 4 loads only after you accept analytics cookies (or equivalent consent). We configure GA4 with IP anonymization and Google Consent Mode v2 defaults that deny analytics storage until consent. Analytics cookies such as _ga are not set before that choice. You can change your preference via Cookie Settings in the footer. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signals where supported.

When you are logged in, WordPress sets session cookies required for authentication. These are essential for the join flow and member pages.

On local or staging hosts, analytics and the cookie banner may behave differently for testing.

Your rights

  • EEA / UK (GDPR): You may withdraw consent, request access, correction, or deletion of personal data we hold from your membership profile. Analytics on this site is opt-in on production.
  • California (CCPA / CPRA): We do not sell or share personal information from this site for cross-context behavioral advertising. Use Do Not Sell or Share in the footer to limit analytics processing.
  • Other regions: Use Cookie Settings to accept or reject non-essential cookies.

Data retention

Member profile data is retained while your account is active and as long as needed to operate the community. You may request deletion of your WordPress account and associated profile data by contacting us. Consent records are stored in the first-party cookie described above. Google Analytics retention follows settings in our GA4 property.

Third-party links

This site may link to third-party services (Google, Discord, event venues, social profiles). We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices.

Children

This community is intended for adults and students. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate consent, contact us and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.

Changes

We may update this policy by posting a revised version on this page with a new review date.
